    Multimodal Approaches to Understanding Swallowing Control and Developing Plasticity Based Interventions for Dysphagia

    Event details

    Illinois' Georgia Malandraki and Brad Sutton will present, "Multimodal Approaches to Understanding Swallowing Control and Developing Plasticity Based Interventions for Dysphagia" at this installment of the Neuromusculoskeletal Seminar Series.

    This seminar will focus on present multimodal research using MRI/fMRI, surface EMG, and videofluoroscopy to elucidate neural-muscular mechanisms of swallowing. Early findings from two NIH-funded studies will be highlighted, demonstrating how integrated physiologic and neuroimaging data can guide development of innovative, plasticity-based interventions for dysphagia in individuals with neurogenic disorders.
